Uprated cams are one of the best ways of achieving higher power levels, particularly on naturally a aspirated engine. They work by opening the valves further for longer amounts of time/crankshaft angle, which allows more air to enter the cylinder; as well as adjusting the opening/closing times to suit higher revs, as more revolutions for a given time = more power output (provided adequate cylinder fill). Very often though, fitting of a 'wilder' cam will require replacement of many other parts as well, such as stronger con-rods/bolts/valve springs and retainers to cope with the higher forces associated with high revs; new, longer valves and any machining of valve spring seats (to cope with higher valve lift), adjustable pulleys (to ensure the now-critical-valve-events are timed perfectly) and on turbo charged engines, the turbo needs adjusting/replacing to suit as well. We can carry out all this work, and supply the parts. Prices vary a lot depending on how much you want to see from the cams. From:
